6. uncertainty; AkiHika, hikaru no go, pg
“Hikaru,” Akira said quietly, gaze directed at the floor. He nervously tucked his hair behind his ear. “Um.” He fidgeted with the white stone in his hand.
Hikaru glanced over at him, in the middle of clearing off the go board—he’d won, but only by half a moku—and blinked. “What?”
Akira flicked a quick look up at him but then his gaze fell again, determinedly staring at his hands. He seemed uneasy, his posture tense as he knelt in front of the goban, fingers rubbing over one smooth white stone. “It’s my birthday,” he said at last, quietly. “Do you want to go out for some cake after this?”
There was silence as Akira waited for the response, on edge, still not looking at Hikaru. “My treat,” he added hastily after a beat. He clutched the stone in his hand.
Hikaru moved and Akira heard the clatter as the last of the black stones dropped into the waiting go-ke. Then there was a shift of cloth against cloth and Hikaru was kneeling in front of him. Akira could feel his heart pounding.
“Hey. Akira.” Hikaru waited until Akira tentatively looked up at him. “No,” he said then.
Akira’s heart fell.
Then the other boy grinned. “My treat,” he said. “I’ll even pay for dinner first.” He leaned forward and gently unfolded Akira’s fist and removed the white go stone. “Happy birthday,” he added, brushing a kiss against the other boy’s lips.

Wanted something vaguely smuttier, but it didn’t work out. Oh well.
