Elysium

Fuji enjoys watching Ryoma sleep because there is something beautiful in those peaceful features, relaxed in slumber. An innocence, perhaps, a tranquil enjoyment of life in the quiet rise and fall of the chest, lips parted in breath in a way that can’t be found at any other time. Defenseless, almost, Fuji thinks, brushing his fingers over Ryoma’s bangs. Rest making love to vulnerability.
He prefers Ryoma awake, actually, because the gentle romance of his slumber can never live up to the brightly burning ferocity that the boy breathes while awake, his every pore flaring with energy. Golden eyes are vivid and alive, his very life itself a testimony to an uncapturable beauty. This is indescribable brilliance, bottled up in a single, trim body nearly taut with uncontainable passion: flashing eyes, smirking mouth, set determination, startled laughter, fierce possessiveness, and an unshakable faith...in himself, that he will be the best; in Fuji, that here is where he belongs.
If life, as the Japanese believe, is as transient as the shortlived cherry blossom, Fuji prefers that his life be spent living with fury, unforgettable, to fully experience every niche and thrill and tender moment it offers. Ryoma stokes the fire in his soul and every time that mouth curves in anticipation, Fuji knows he will never be satisfied with anything less than everything. He arcs, passion-bright, a flame scorching pale petals and leaving indelible marks on the tree that bore them.
They will live fiercely, unforgettably, and reach perfection together.
