Take Your Favorite Fairy Tale and Tear it Up - [1/2]
Super Junior, gen, PG/PG-13, 1000 words
hyukjae likes being liked, so he's never minded the jokes about his porn or his smelly feet, because it only means that his hyungs like him enough to tease him. he knows they don't tease ryeowook or sungmin the way they tease him, and part of him can't help but feel a little smug, because he's the only one funny enough and good-natured enough (in their opinion, he thinks) to put up with it. he feels guilty, too, because he likes ryeowook and sungmin, but he likes being liked even more. hyukjae's favorite ego stroking (even though he'd never admit this to anyone out loud, even himself) is that he's donghae's favorite. because everyone loves donghae, and donghae likes him, hyukjae, more than the rest of them. hyukjae's favorite part, though, has to be the fact that donghae isn't his favorite, and never has been. it's always been junsu, and donghae, hyukjae thinks with a satisfaction he will never air, knows that.

sungmin acts cute because it gets him what he wants. he knows it annoys the other members, because he only ever turns on the aegyo when there's a camera around - the other times, he can't be bothered to care. heechul calls him manipulative, but sungmin thinks heechul is a hypocrite. heechul says there's a difference between the two of them because heechul doesn't stop being a bitch when there's a camera around, but sungmin ignores him, because he doesn't really care.
sungmin cares very little about what people he doesn't like think about him, and it's a pity that he doesn't like a lot of his group members. it's not that he doesn't love them, but it's hard to like someone who won't grow up (donghae), or someone who acts modest even though he knows better (siwon), or someone who tries too hard (yesung). sungmin likes three and a half of his band members: kibum, who doesn't pretend he likes the other members when he doesn't, shindong, who actually listens to people and doesn't take himself as seriously as everyone else seems to, kyuhyun, who can at least make sungmin laugh with his sarcasm, and sometimes hyukjae, when he's not kissing up to his hyungs in an effort to be doted upon.
sungmin knows not everyone likes him either, but they have to pretend, and he takes great satisfaction in knowing that he's still the best actor of them all.

it's simple to pretend that he's laid back, that he's easy-going, that he's full of good intentions and sincerity. everyone tends to think the best of him, because he always seems so good-natured in comparison to heechul, who is loud and selfish and relentless about being so. but han geng has practiced this act for a long time now: he knows it is to his benefit to appear the laughing, bumbling chinese member, the sweet one with the good heart that no one can dislike. he wears this face well, because he knows it will get him what he want, and what he wants is to lead a group in china.
he wants that group, and he wants it to be successful, because it will first develop the chinese entertainment industry and then secure him a spot in its highest echelons. ambition has driven han geng since he was young, since he left home to pursue a career in beijing, and then left beijing to further his goals in korea. but han geng has always known what he wanted and he knows how to get it. if it entails using people or pretending to be the simple, hardworking member that never quites get the joke, then so be it. he knows he'll get what he wants in the end.

donghae likes to lead people on because it's easy and it amuses him. donghae does a lot of things because it amuses him. teasing the fans with the occasional "saranghae" is easy, too easy, but he likes the screams anyway. sending the interviewers and mcs rushing to their microphones or note cards with a non sequitur is also funny. but nothing amuses donghae like the confusion in siwon's eyes or the betrayal in hyukjae's when donghae will cuddle up to them one day and ignore them completely the next. it's entertaining to hear leeteuk try to explain to him why ryeowook is upset with him or why kyuhyun thought donghae returned his feelings. all it takes is an earnest nod and a few tears before leeteuk readily believes that donghae didn't mean it, that it was only childish carelessness, not a deliberate attempt to play with other people's feelings. but donghae likes to play with other people's feelings because (he's thought about this for a while) it's easy, he's good at it, and most importantly: he can.

leeteuk smiles at the girl as he invites himself along on kangin's date and casually puts his hand on kangin's thigh as they chat. he drapes himself over kangin's back and laughs, pats kangin's cheek and giggles at a joke the girl doesn't understand, feeds himself from kangin's plate without a thought in the world. kangin doesn't notice, because leeteuk is always like this, (they're always like this), but the girl looks at him, stares, and leeteuk smiles at her again, this time with teeth. (sometimes they leave like that and sometimes he has to fuck them before they learn better, but eventually they go and kangin is left alone.)
leetuek does this a lot (this thing with kangin, this thing with girls) and he does it on purpose. he doesn't care if kangin's in love with a girl, or a boy, or five girls and two boys at once; he only cares about his group and his group's future, and that group's future has no room for romance. leeteuk doesn't care if kangin is in love, but he can't afford for kangin to be dating - so leeteuk smiles at girls and consoles kangin when they leave and doesn't feel bad about it.

I've thought about doing the other members but I don't know if I will. Some are easier than others (Heechul, Kibum), but I think I'm bored of this, haha.
